The Chrysler 200 has served as the midsize sedan of choice for drivers that want to match value with quality. Sales weren’t as high as the company hoped, and that ultimately led to the model’s demise. Chrysler 200 production has officially ended with 2016 following a slow sales season.
The Chrysler 200 saw sales drop by a whopping 65% between 2015 and 2016. The midsize sedan has seen a dramatic decrease with less than 55,000 sold during November 2016. While sedan sales have been falling amid the popularity of crossovers and SUVs, few cars have seen such a dramatic change.
Drivers who are still interested in owning a Chrysler 200 can find solace in its sibling, the Chrysler 300. The 300 is slightly larger than the outgoing 200 but brings much of the interior features and quality one would expect.
The plant where the Chrysler 200 was produced will be refitted to build the new Ram 1500 pickup as well as future models. As for the Chrysler 200 itself, officials say that the model won’t be replaced. That leaves just the Chrysler 300 and Pacifica on the brand’s lineup.
We here at Shuman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are sad to see such an iconic car leaving the lineup, but fear not! We still have plenty in stock, which means you can come and see why the Chrysler 200 is what we’d like to call an underrated instant-classic.
