With the production of the all-new Chrysler 200 officially underway, Sterling Heights has been abuzz with the good news. We at Shuman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are excited for the 2015 200 to go on sale, but we’re even happier for the 800 people who now work at the assembly plant.
The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant was once on a list to be closed down just a few years ago. Now, almost $1 billion and one ground-breaking redesign later, the plant is busy with 800 additional employees working to build the 2015 Chrysler 200.
It was the “never-give-up attitude” of the community, our community, that made this a reality.
Chrysler Group CEO, Sergio Marchionne, was on hand to announce the official start to production on Friday, March 14.
He commended, “I believe that American workers can build vehicles with a level of quality as good as anyone in the world and I believe in you the men and the women of SHAP (Sterling Heights Assembly Plant). I want to thank you very much for what you’ve done, but more importantly, for what you are. Thank you very much.”
