The Chrysler Portal Concept: Redefining Mobility

Chrysler Portal Concept open doors

Fiat-Chrysler is revolutionizing the industry with innovative designs, including the latest Chrysler Portal Concept. This model promises to redefine family vehicles in the future, offering an intelligent design, roomy interior, and state-of-the-art technologies. Here at Shuman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we can’t wait to see the new Portal in action.

According to Detroit News, the Portal Concept is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. This front-wheel-drive model has sliding doors that glide apart to allow for a five-foot entryway. Under the hood will be either a hybrid or all-electric powertrain to optimize fuel economy and reduce emissions, while the frame is from the Chrysler Pacifica.

“We haven’t been shy to say that we see the Portal as what we view as the future of family transportation,” said Tim Kuniskis, passenger car chief for North America. “People ask me, is it a minivan? Is it a crossover? Is it a UV (utility vehicle)? We just say it’s the fifth generation of cars.”

Other features include navigational sensors and complex radar to make this vehicle semi-autonomous. The Portal will be capable of driving itself in many situations, though many of these technologies can simply be used to keep you safe in emergencies. Although there is no official release date, the new Portal will likely appear sometime after 2018.
