2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn vs. 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

2017 Ram 1500 Big HornThe 2017 Ram pickup lineup is available now at Shuman Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram, including the 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn model, which is powered by the 3.6-liter V6 or available 5.7-liter V8 HEMI® engine. But how does the new Ram 1500 stack up against the new 2017 Chevrolet Silverado? As it turns out, fairly well.

In terms of pricing, the 2017 Ram 1500 has the Silverado 1500 beat, with a suggested MSRP for the base model more than $1,000 lower than the base model of the Silverado. Fully loaded, the 2017 Ram 1500 is about $10,000 less than the Silverado 1500.

The 2017 Ram 1500 also has a nicer interior with higher-quality materials, but performance is where it really shines. The base V6 of the Ram 1500 offers 20 more horsepower than the base V6 of the Silverado 1500; the Ram truck also offers a turbodiesel engine that the Silverado cannot match. Ride and handling are also higher rated for the 2017 Ram 1500, as is fuel efficiency (25 mpg on the highway from the base engine compared to the Silverado’s 24 mpg*).
