Chrysler is already looking into the future for the expansion of its SRT line. It recently rereleased the 2013 Viper (previously a Dodge model) and is now adding a second model for the 2015 model year: the SRT Barracuda.
Replacing the Dodge Challenger, the 2015 Barracuda will feature an all-new rear-drive platform. It is expected to lose approximately six inches from the Challenger’s wheelbase and eight inches in overall length. The Barracuda will be significantly lighter as well; weight loss will be somewhere between 250 to 300 pounds.
SRT Barracuda powertrain options will likely include the new 2.4-liter Tigershark inline-four and the direct injection Hemi V-8. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 is a possibility, depending on Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) requirements.
